Coating, Insulation, Mechanical and Steel Structure QC Inspector Jobs in Saudi Arabia (2026): Aramco CBT, BGAS, CSWIP and SAP Number Explained

QC inspector jobs in Saudi Arabia go far beyond welding. Learn what coating, insulation, mechanical and steel structure QC roles need in 2026 — Aramco CBT, BGAS, CSWIP, SAP number — and see live vacancies in Jubail, Jeddah and Shedgum.

Quick answer: In Saudi Arabia, a QC inspector checks that construction and maintenance work meets the project specification before the client accepts it. Besides welding QC, contractors in 2026 are actively hiring coating QC, insulation QC, mechanical QC, steel structure QC and RTR (fiberglass pipe) QC inspectors. For Saudi Aramco projects you normally need an Aramco approval in your discipline with a passed CBT; coating inspectors are expected to hold BGAS or NACE/AMPP, steel and welding inspectors CSWIP, and some clients ask for a SAP number. On 30 September 2026 alone we published QC openings in Jubail, Jeddah and Shedgum.

Coating QC inspector: what the job involves

A coating inspector checks surface preparation (cleanliness grade, profile, dust and salt levels), weather conditions such as humidity and dew point, wet and dry film thickness, holiday testing and final appearance on pipes, tanks and steel structures. In Saudi Arabia most coating work follows Saudi Aramco SAES-H standards and the approved paint system.

Typical requirements: BGAS Grade 1 or 2, or NACE/AMPP CIP Level 1 to 3; Aramco approval with CBT for Aramco sites; 5+ years of coating experience; ability to prepare daily inspection reports.

Insulation QC inspector: what employers check

Insulation inspectors verify thermal and acoustic insulation on piping and equipment: material type and thickness, correct fixing, aluminium or stainless cladding overlaps, sealing to stop water ingress and proper finishing at valves and flanges. Poor insulation causes corrosion under insulation (CUI), so Aramco and SABIC projects treat this role seriously.

Typical requirements: Aramco approval as insulation QC, a valid Aramco card, Ajeer or Chamber registration for rental jobs, and experience on refinery or gas plant projects.

Mechanical QC inspector: the all-rounder

Mechanical QC inspectors cover equipment installation, alignment of pumps and compressors, bolt torquing, hydrotest witnessing, piping supports and punch lists. Non-Aramco roles, such as the 5 positions open in Jubail this week, usually ask for 5+ years of experience and a CV backed by experience letters and certificates.

Steel structure QC inspector: why SAP, BGAS and CSWIP appear together

Steel structure inspectors check fabrication, welding, bolted connections, verticality and coating of structural steel. That is why employers ask for CSWIP (welding inspection) and BGAS (painting inspection) together. A SAP number is the unique ID an approved inspector receives in the client's system; if a job post asks for it, the employer wants someone already registered and ready to mobilise.

What does Aramco CBT mean for QC inspectors?

CBT stands for computer-based test. After your CV is reviewed, Saudi Aramco invites you to a discipline-specific exam (for example coating, welding or piping). Passing the CBT, together with an interview and approval, makes you an Aramco approved inspector for that discipline. Job posts that say "CBT passed" or "Aramco approved with CBT" will not consider candidates who have not yet passed. Read our full guide on the Aramco CBT for QC inspectors on the Saudi Job Seeker blog.

Documents to keep ready

Valid Iqama with at least 3 months validity and Muqeem report; passport (many employers ask for the original at interview); certificates such as CSWIP, BGAS, NACE/AMPP, NDT or API; Aramco approval letter and CBT result; experience letters in hard copy; medical fitness and insurance; online Chamber or Ajeer if the job is on rental basis.

How much do QC inspectors earn in Saudi Arabia?

Rates vary with discipline and approval. Aramco-approved welding, coating and piping QC inspectors on rental contracts commonly earn well above trade rates, while non-Aramco mechanical QC roles pay less. Many ads say "salary on request", so ask for the hourly or monthly rate, food, accommodation and transport (FAT) and payment cycle before mobilising.

Avoid fake approvals and fake offers

Employers warn that Aramco is taking legal action over fake approvals and fake CVs. Never buy an approval, a CBT result or a certificate. Equally, genuine employers never ask candidates to pay for a job. If anyone asks for money, stop and report the post.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Aramco approval for every QC job in Saudi Arabia? No. SABIC, Marafiq, Ma'aden and private projects have their own approvals, and many non-Aramco mechanical QC jobs only need experience and certificates.

Which certificate is best for a coating inspector? BGAS and NACE/AMPP CIP are the most widely requested in Saudi coating job posts.

What is RTR QC? RTR stands for reinforced thermosetting resin (fiberglass) pipe. RTR QC inspectors need a CBT in that discipline and often a valid FPI certificate.
