FAT, Chamber, Muqeem, Ajeer: How to Read a Saudi WhatsApp Job Post in 2026 (and Spot a Fake)

"Rate 17 SAR, FAT company, chamber required, 45 days after timesheet" — what does it all mean? A plain-English guide to every term in Saudi WhatsApp job posts, plus 7 red flags that expose fake offers.

Every morning, hundreds of job posts land in Saudi WhatsApp groups. They look like this: "URGENT REQUIREMENT. Pipe Fitter, Rate 16 SR. Chamber must required. Documents: Absher iqama, Muqeem (3 months valid), Ajeer. Payment 45 days after timesheet. FAT company." If you understand this code, you can apply in minutes. If you don't, you can waste a trip to a site office, or worse, get cheated.

This guide explains every common term in plain English, based on real posts published on Saudi Job Seeker this month.

Quick answer: the 10 terms you will see most

Rate: your pay per hour, in Saudi Riyals (SAR). "Rate 17 SR" means 17 riyals for every hour you work, not per day.

FAT: Food, Accommodation and Transportation. "FAT company" or "FAT provided" means the employer pays for all three. If FAT is not mentioned, assume you pay yourself.

Timesheet: the record of hours you worked, signed by the site. Your salary is calculated from it.

"45 days after timesheet": you are paid about 45 days after the timesheet for that period is submitted. Your first salary can therefore arrive around two months after you start. Plan your savings for that.

Chamber: documents from your sponsoring company certified by the Chamber of Commerce. Many sites, especially Aramco and SABIC contractors, need them to issue your gate pass, so "chamber must required" usually means your current company must be able to provide them.

Muqeem: the official printout of your iqama record from the Muqeem system run by Elm with the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat). "Muqeem (3 months valid)" means your iqama should have at least three months of validity left.

Ajeer: the Ministry of Human Resources platform that issues permits for temporary work, so a worker sponsored by one company can legally work for another for a fixed period. Most manpower supply and shutdown jobs run on Ajeer.

Vendor code / CR copy: your sponsoring company's supplier registration with the client and its Commercial Registration. These are company documents, not yours, which tells you the job expects a company-to-company (manpower supply) arrangement.

Shutdown / turnaround: a short, intense maintenance period at a refinery or plant. Duration is often 1 to 3 months, with long hours and good overtime.

Aramco approved: you hold a valid Aramco-recognised certification for your trade, such as a WPR card or a third-party certified rigger or operator card. We explain it fully in our Aramco approved jobs guide.

Why posts ask for your company's documents

Most WhatsApp jobs in Saudi Arabia are not direct hiring. A contractor needs, for example, 30 welders for a 5-month project. Instead of sponsoring new workers, it borrows them from other companies. Your sponsor sends you, the client pays your sponsor, and your sponsor pays you. Ajeer makes this legal. That is why the post asks for chamber documents, a vendor code and a CR copy: they are checking your sponsor, not only you.

If you are on a transferable iqama or want a full sponsorship transfer, look for posts that say "iqama transfer" or "direct company visa" instead.

How to calculate what a job really pays

Hourly rates look small until you multiply them. A common site schedule is 10 hours a day, 26 days a month, which is 260 hours.

Rate 13 SAR x 260 hours = about 3,380 SAR per month.

Rate 17 SAR x 260 hours = about 4,420 SAR per month.

Rate 25 SAR x 260 hours = about 6,500 SAR per month.

Now subtract what is not included. If FAT is not provided, food, a bed space and daily transport can easily cost several hundred riyals a month. A 15 SAR job with FAT can be worth more than an 18 SAR job without it.

Under the Saudi Labor Law, the Ministry of Human Resources states that overtime is paid at the hourly wage plus 50% of the basic wage. Ask whether the quoted rate already includes overtime.

Documents to keep ready on your phone

Keep clear photos or PDFs of these, so you can apply the minute a post appears:

Updated CV (one or two pages, trade and years of experience in the first line)

Iqama (Absher printout) and passport copy

Muqeem printout with the validity date visible

Trade certificates: TUV, third-party, WPR, welding test (e.g. 6G) certificates

Aramco ID or previous gate pass, if you have one

Medical fitness certificate, if you have a recent one

Tip: send everything in one WhatsApp message with a short line on top, for example: "Pipe Fitter, 6 years, Aramco shutdown experience, Iqama valid 2027, available immediately, Jubail." Recruiters handle hundreds of messages. Make yours easy to say yes to.

7 red flags of a fake job post

Saudi WhatsApp groups also carry scams. Walk away if you see any of these:

1. Any fee. No legitimate Saudi employer or licensed recruitment office charges you to get a job, process a visa or "open a file".

2. A request for your Absher or Nafath verification code. These codes can authorise actions on your government accounts. Never share them with anyone.

3. No company name, no location, no duration, only a foreign phone number.

4. A salary far above the market for the trade, for example a helper at 30 SAR an hour.

5. Pressure: "only today", "last 2 seats", "send money now to confirm".

6. An offer letter sent only as an image, from a Gmail address, with a company name you cannot find.

7. A request to hand over your original passport or iqama before you have seen a contract.

To check a company, search its Commercial Registration with the Ministry of Commerce. To report labour violations such as fee demands, call the Ministry of Human Resources on 19911. Suspected fraud can also be reported through the Kollona Amn app.

How Saudi Job Seeker makes this easier

We collect daily job posts from active Saudi WhatsApp groups, publish each one as a separate listing, and keep the original wording, so nothing important is lost. Each listing shows the trade, city, rate and a one-tap WhatsApp button. Check the Jobs page every day: urgent posts are often filled within 24 to 48 hours.

Frequently asked questions

What does FAT mean in Saudi job posts? FAT means Food, Accommodation and Transportation. If a post says "FAT company", the employer covers all three.

What does "chamber required" mean? It usually means the job needs documents from your sponsoring company certified by the Chamber of Commerce, often for a gate pass or temporary work permit.

What is a Muqeem printout? It is the official record of your iqama from the Muqeem system. Employers use it to confirm your residency status and how long your iqama is valid.

Is it legal to work for another company through Ajeer? Yes, when your sponsor and the other company use a valid Ajeer permit from the Ministry of Human Resources. Working for another company without one can create problems for you and your sponsor.

When will I get my first salary on a "45 days after timesheet" job? Usually about 45 days after the first timesheet is submitted, so often six to eight weeks after you start.

Should I ever pay to get a job in Saudi Arabia? No. Any request for money to get a job, visa or file is a red flag. Report it on 19911.
