NEOM, Red Sea & Saudi Giga-Projects: The Construction and Engineering Jobs to Watch in 2026

A look at how NEOM, the Red Sea, Qiddiya and Diriyah are creating thousands of construction, engineering and energy jobs, and what skills employers actually want.

Saudi Arabia's giga-projects are no longer just announcements. They are some of the biggest active construction sites in the world, and they are hiring at scale in 2026. If you work in construction, engineering or energy, here is what is actually being built and which roles are opening up.

NEOM: The Line, Oxagon and Trojena

NEOM is the flagship of Vision 2030, and its scope has grown dramatically: initial cost estimates of $1.6 trillion have climbed past $8.8 trillion by 2025. The Line is a planned 170-kilometre linear city designed to house 9 million residents, and its construction is generating ongoing demand for civil engineers, structural engineers, site supervisors, safety officers and skilled trades. Oxagon, NEOM's floating industrial zone, is being built around manufacturing, a desalination plant and a green-hydrogen facility backed by a $5 billion partnership between Air Products and ACWA Power, creating openings for process technicians, industrial engineers and renewable-energy specialists. Trojena, NEOM's mountain tourism and ski destination, is bringing in hospitality construction and specialist alpine-engineering roles, while Sindalah island resort, which opened its first phase in late 2024, continues to need hospitality, marina and facilities staff.

Red Sea, Qiddiya and Diriyah

Beyond NEOM, the Red Sea tourism project, the entertainment-focused Qiddiya development and the heritage-driven Diriyah Gate project are all active construction sites needing project managers, quantity surveyors, MEP engineers, landscaping crews and hospitality-fit-out specialists. Together with NEOM, these giga-projects are among the largest employers of construction labour anywhere in the Gulf right now.

The skills employers are asking for

Across these projects, the roles in shortest supply are experienced site supervisors, HSE officers, mechanical and electrical engineers, welders, scaffolders and crane operators, the same core trades seen in daily job postings from contractors working in Jubail, Riyadh, Tabuk and the Red Sea coast. Relevant trade certifications and prior Gulf construction experience consistently make the difference between similar candidates.

Why this matters beyond the giga-projects themselves

Even if you are not applying to NEOM or the Red Sea project directly, this wave of giga-project spending is pulling demand through the entire construction supply chain. Steel fabrication, logistics, equipment rental and support services are all hiring more because of it, which is one reason construction and engineering postings have stayed strong across the Kingdom, not just inside the giga-project zones themselves.
