QC Welding Inspector, Piping QC and RBI Engineer Jobs in Saudi Arabia (2026): CSWIP, NDT Level II and API-580 Explained

What Saudi employers really ask for in QC welding inspector, piping QC and RBI engineer job posts in September 2026: CSWIP, NDT Level II, API-580, years of experience, Aramco vs non-Aramco, documents and how to get shortlisted.

Quality control is one of the most stable career paths in Saudi oil, gas and petrochemical projects. Every shutdown, pipeline and plant expansion needs inspectors who can prove that welds, piping and equipment meet the code. In the job posts we published on 24 and 25 September 2026, QC and inspection roles appeared again and again, from Ras Tanura to Fadhili to Qatif. This guide explains what those ads mean by CSWIP, NDT Level II and API-580, how much experience employers expect, and how to get shortlisted.

Quick answer: what do you need for a QC welding inspector job in Saudi Arabia?

Most non-Aramco welding inspector posts ask for a CSWIP welding inspector certificate, an NDT Level II qualification, 5 to 10 years of site experience, a valid Iqama with Muqeem and Ajeer, and a clean CV that lists your projects. Aramco approved roles add a company approval and often a passed CBT. Senior roles such as RBI engineer ask for API-580 and at least five years in inspection.

What CSWIP means in a Saudi job post

CSWIP is the Certification Scheme for Personnel run by TWI in the United Kingdom. In Saudi WhatsApp job posts, "CSWIP required" almost always means the CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certificate (or 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector for lead roles). It shows that you can check welding procedures, welder qualifications, fit-up, visual weld quality and reports. The five welding inspector posts advertised in Fadhili this week all require CSWIP plus 6 to 7 years of experience.

What NDT Level II means

NDT Level II means you are qualified to carry out and interpret non-destructive tests such as radiography (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle (MT) or dye penetrant (PT) under a recognised scheme like ASNT or ISO 9712. When a welding inspector post says "NDT Level II required", the employer wants someone who can read test reports and decide whether a weld passes, not only look at it.

What API-580 means for RBI engineer roles

API-580 is the American Petroleum Institute recommended practice for Risk Based Inspection (RBI). An RBI engineer uses the likelihood and consequence of failure to plan which pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping circuits need inspection and when. This week an urgent RBI engineer role asked for API-580, a minimum of five years of experience, an immediate start and a one-year contract with FAT under company scope. Holding the API individual certification for API-580 is a strong advantage.

Aramco approved or non-Aramco QC: which should you apply for?

Aramco approved QC inspectors are approved to work on Saudi Aramco sites and usually earn more, but the approval process takes time. Non-Aramco QC roles are common on SABIC, Maaden, private plants and contractor fabrication yards. The Ras Tanura piping QC and welding QC post published this week accepts both Aramco approved and non-Aramco candidates with 8 to 10 years of experience, which is a good opening if your approval is still in process.

Documents QC employers ask for

Typical documents are Iqama (often with at least three months of validity), passport copy, CSWIP or NDT certificates, Ajeer, Muqeem, medical and an updated CV. For Aramco approved roles, keep a copy of your approval and CBT result ready. Put your certificate numbers and expiry dates on the first page of your CV so the recruiter can check them in seconds.

How to get shortlisted faster

Start your CV with a three-line summary: your title, years of experience, and certificates, for example "QC Welding Inspector, 8 years, CSWIP 3.1, ASNT NDT Level II (RT, UT)". List projects with the client, the plant and your exact scope. Mention the codes you have worked with, such as ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1 or Saudi Aramco standards. When you message a recruiter, write the job title and the city from the ad in the first line.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Is CSWIP accepted in Saudi Arabia? A: Yes. CSWIP 3.1 and 3.2 are widely requested by Saudi contractors for welding inspector roles, especially on non-Aramco and SABIC projects.

Q: How many years of experience do Saudi QC jobs need? A: Most posts this month ask for 5 to 10 years. Fadhili welding inspector roles ask for 6 to 7 years and above, and Ras Tanura QC roles ask for 8 to 10 years.

Q: What is the difference between QC inspector and RBI engineer? A: A QC inspector checks work as it is built or repaired. An RBI engineer plans inspection of operating equipment based on risk, following API-580.

Q: Do I have to pay to apply? A: No. Never pay anyone to apply, to be shortlisted or to get a visa. Report any ad that asks for money.
